Archives Mortuary Chapel |

While the Archives Mortuary Chapel building was
started in 1893, it wasn't completed until 1897.
The chapel was a holding vault in which remains
were kept pending burial arrangements. Today it
houses the official records of the cemetery.
Anyone interested in the Old City Cemetery's
history is encouraged to visit the Archives
Mortuary Chapel Monday through Friday 10 am to 3 pm. |
You will find information about
upcoming events,
interesting brochures about various historical and
horticultural aspects of the City Cemetery, and
self-guided tour maps.
Visitors to the City Cemetery Archive and Information
Center may purchase a variety of interesting and
instructional
books and pamphlets about the Sacramento Area and
its history. T-shirts, sweatshirts and other
souvenir items are also available.
